Our Vision
The Problem:
The United States educational system is behind other nations. According to the 2009 Program for International Student Assessment, the U.S. is ranked 14th in reading, 17th in science, and 25th in math. One of the underlying reasons behind this problem is that the learning from school, family, work, and community are not inter-connected. When the learning from all aspects is combined, this provides greater creativity and innovation. For example, some of the best ideas we see in our organization were not created during the normal workday. They come from being with family or in the community.
The Solution:
The internship program was implemented at Climax to provide young people ages 17-24 the opportunity to continue learning outside of school and to combine learning from all aspects of their life to promote lifelong learning.
Our Internship Vision:
Through the implementation of the internship program, young people are able to break the molds of simply going through life from a 3rd grader into high school and then on as an employee. The internship program transitions this thinking into what could be. And what could be is a better future for youth as they instead go through life becoming leaders and volunteers, and through their experiences, ultimately become better parents.
